The BIO·FICTION Science Art Film Festival is created by Biofaction KG. Bio-fiction.com, as the web presence of the festival is therefore owned, operated and managed by Biofaction KG and is committed to respecting the privacy of our web site visitors and newsletter recipients. Our web site is governed in accordance with current legislation, including the Austrian Telekommunikationsgesetz 2003 (“TKG 2003“) and the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”), (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).

PERSONAL INFORMATION

When you contact us:

When you use the contact form on our web site or e-mail us directly, you’re providing us with personal information, such as your e-mail address, your name or other identifying data. We will use this information for the purpose it was collected, such as replying to queries, clarifications, project and service inquiries, follow-up etc.
Your information may be used in analysis or evaluation of our work, service, impact or similar areas to maintain and improve our internal standards.

We will not share your information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes and we do not pass on your details to other web sites. Your data will not be shared unless legally required.

When you visit our web site:

Our provider (One.com) automatically saves information regarding network traffic to the web servers, including information about browser type, time of access, operating system, country etc. This information is used for general statistical purposes, and cannot serve to identify individual visitors, unless further data inquiries are made and different data sources compared. We will only take those steps, if we find our web site has been abused.

When you’ve signed up for our newsletter:

We save your name and email address in order to send you regular information – if requested. If you use the newsletter form on our web site, your first and last name are not required fields, but a valid e-mail address is required. In order to make sure that the e-mail address is correct, we employ a double-opt-in system, whereby we ask you to validate the subscription email we send you. For the purposes of signing up for the newsletter, we store date, time and ip-address of both sign-up and email address validation.
We utilise a third-party service, Mailchimp (The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308 USA) to manage our newsletter. Mailchimp is certified with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework, the Swiss-US Privacy Shield Framework, and is compliant with the GDPR.

When you submit:

Accepting the privacy policy is necessary for Biofaction to use your film and information at the film festival and for the world tour afterwards.

Personal information

I permit that the personal information sent through the film entry form be used to stay in touch with me for purposes of the FUTUREBODY project. I permit that the information provided in regards to the film and its producers be used for presenting the film during the festival and the BIO·FICTION world tour.

Biofaction will not share your information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes and we do not pass on your details to other websites. Your data will not be shared unless legally required. Your information will be kept safe by Biofaction.

Film(s)

I am responsible for the acquisition of the rights and explicitly exempt the festival organiser from possible legal recourse regarding unauthorised usage. I permit that various clips of my work can be used for PR purposes. I permit the broadcast of clips of my work on television. I permit the publication of my work on the website bio-fiction.com. I understand that the film could also be shown in the additional program (the world tour) or at future BIO·FICTION events. I permit the storage of application material in Biofaction KG’s archives.

If the film(s) are screened in a location that necessitates it, I permit the use and addition of subtitles in other languages.

General

I understand that I can view, edit or delete my submitted personal information by sending a request via email to filmfestival[@]bio-fiction.com. In case of no earlier request deletion, my general information will be kept for a maximum of six years starting on 16 April 2019. My film submission may be kept and reused for BIO·FICTION Science Art Film Festival purposes, but no other purposes, for a maximum of 10 years starting on 16 April 2019.

COOKIES

Like almost all web sites this site uses cookies, which are tiny files a web site asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. Cookies can be used in order to collect information about web site traffic, in order to optimise our web presence and services, and to make our web site userfriendly. Cookies cannot harm your computer in any way nor do they give us access to your computer or any identifying data.

Third party cookies, plugins, embedded media content and social media plugins

This site also embeds videos from our YouTube and Vimeo channels and short films from the participants of our film competitions (with their permission). For these embedded videos to work and be playable, YouTube and Vimeo will set cookies, over which we have no control, so we advise you to refer to their policies or contact them directly for information.

In order for our site to look and function the same across platforms and devices, our layout relies on script libraries, specifically Google Fonts.

If, as mentioned above, you set your browser to decline any cookies, no data or information flow will occur apart from the automated analytics by our provider already mentioned under “When you visit our web site“. Please keep in mind, however, that this will affect how our or any other web site looks and functions.
